Casdagli Daughters of the Wind Pony Express Cigar Review

Relaxing with a good book and an equally good cigar is always a pleasurable way to spend an hour or two. Especially when you’re sat out in the sun with a beer to accompany them.

Accidently colour coordinating your cigar, beer, and book doesn’t add much to the party but it is an aesthetically pleasing coincidence.

If you enjoy sci-fi and/or horror then you’ll most likely love this book. The Mythos Tales comprises of 23 short stories published between 1923 and 1936. Most of the stories are told from the perspective of the first-person, in the form of manuscripts, letters and diary entries which deliver mounting tension, dread, and horror in equal measure.

This cigar is a 6-inch box pressed Robusto with a 48-ring gauge.

Pony Express is the latest arrival in the Daughters of the Wind range. The key difference from the original Daughter of the Wind blend is the increased amount of Dominican Oscuro Ligero filler, which adds greater richness and gives the cigar a fuller, more robust character.

Flavour Profile

The cigar was very smooth with a medium-bodied profile, though I found it to be on the lighter side of medium. There were clear creamy leather notes and spice on the finish, but the subtle sweetness was what struck me the most.

Burning and conditions

This cigar was an easy smoke on a bright warm day. The draw was perfect and I was so enjoying my book that I nearly lost my ash in the pages.

I very much enjoyed this cigar. It was smooth and creamy and a little sweet. I’d score it an 8.5/10 and would certainly have another one.
